Let’s have a quick look at the ‘rules of the game’ you’ll be expected to play by during each Mastermind Group meeting:
- Have a definite purpose. Your mastermind group simply can’t help you if you don’t give them a tangible, well defined problem to work with and an idea of the outcome you would like from solving this problem.
Ask yourself this question: What is your biggest, most pressing, immediate, marketing, revenue generating, problem, issue, challenge or opportunity? And write down your unique problem ready for your mastermind to work on. Also ask yourself: What do you think is the major cause of this problem? How have you tried to solve it? How would you like this situation to be? What’s the ideal outcome? Now, more often than not your mastermind will come up with ideas and combinations of ideas that far exceed your hopes and expectations but it still helps your mastermind to have some kind of desired outcome to work from as a base. - Contribute openly and wholeheartedly. There’s no such thing as a bad idea, only hugely valuable insights. Share all your thoughts and ideas – after being part of a powerful mastermind your attitude that ideas are in short supply will rapidly disappear. You’ll literally be taken aback with the sheer quantity and quality of ideas half a dozen minds can create in a short period of time simply by working together.
- Be open – always. To really benefit from this Mastermind Group you need to be prepared to share your weaknesses. Put pride to one side – the one way to be sure of getting the best from yourself and from those
who can help, is to be totally transparent and honest. I promise it’s the best way to start accepting ideas and constructive feedback, and gives your fellow members a better idea of the kinds of solutions you’re more likely to implement in your business. - Lose your instinct for defensiveness. If you’ve tried to solve a problem it’s simple human nature to defend your huge investment of time and effort. Let the power of your mastermind work its magic .and you’ll be amazed where this can lead.
- Respect everyone’s opinion. Unusual and profound ideas and insights can come from unexpected sources so it’s essential to explore everybody’s insights and contributions. If you’re in the business of web design the opinion of a new entrepreneur could be more valuable than a billionaire in the clothing industry. Often a crazy, naive idea can be the catalyst for something solid, down to earth and truly brilliant.
- Meet every four weeks, update often. The first meeting will be incredible – and it will just get better from there. By staying in touch with your fellow Groupsters you’ll stick to challenges that have been laid down during the Meetings, and be able to motivate each other through the month ahead. Every member of your Mastermind Group will think of new ideas and insights while the group is apart and bring up those insights at the next meeting or by using your group’s private forum at TheYouTeam.com.
- Take action. The greatest ideas in the world are worthless unless you take action on them. Taking action on the ideas you receive from your mastermind also helps fuel the enthusiasm of your fellow members.
